Kenny - April 29

Owen got us tickets to see Kenny G at Jazz Alley last night. Kenny seemed to have a great time performing in his home town. My photo didn't turn out great, but it's him. It was fun to hear a lot of his older songs plus he added some jazzy pieces.

Enviro Fair - April 28

The UP Flower and Plant Sale was today combined with an Enviro Fair with booths of vendors and information. Matthew's Enviro Club had an area so Matthew spent most of the day there. We brought him lunch before we went down to vote on the best rhodies and photos (which Matthew didn't know about so didn't get any photos into the contest...darn).

Happy Earth Day! Matthew and his Enviro Club had an article in our local online newspaper and he ended up being in most of the photos.

My Birthday - April 10

Today was my birthday. After school I ran into a retired teacher from my school who I haven't seen for years. We chatted a bit and she told me I looked just the same as I did when she was teaching there. I told her it was my birthday and how long I'd been working there...then I realized that I've worked at that school for half of my life! What a realization!

I had a very nice birthday with lots of birthday wishes and thoughtful, perfect presents. Nicholas had flowers waiting for me on the table when I got up, Matthew baked me a cake. We went to Outback for dinner and ate too much, but I have leftovers for tomorrow's lunch (yea!).

Spring Break Day 5 - April 6

After taking Owen to an early appointment today, we had breakfast out at Shari's. They make pretty good breakfasts! I asked the boys if they wanted to do an egg hunt and they agreed. I guess they're not too old to have some fun, although for some reason they didn't want to have it in the front yard. ;)

Spring Break Day 4 - April 5

Today was pretty uneventful. My eye doctor appointment went well...no glaucoma. I took a nap, then had dinner at Mis Tres Amigos (they have my FAVORITE salsa). That's about it!

Spring Break Day 3 - April 4

I wore my lucky earrings to the store while I looked for some black jeans and a plum top to go with a sweater I got. Turns out the earrings aren't lucky. :) I did end up with a rasperry mocha which was very delicious. Owen and I had dinner at Moctezuma's and I tried their chipotle-ranch dressing on my chicken taco salad. That was pretty good. Tomorrow I go back in to the eye doctor to get my eye rechecked. Pressure in the eye is supposed to be around 16 (16 "whats", I'm not sure), but mine was at 28. I will have a field of vision test as well as the pressure test. Wish me luck (and I'll try a different pair of lucky earrings...) :)

Spring Break Day 2 - April 3

Today Owen, Matthew and I went to see the Hunger Games movie. I thought they did a great job. Owen had listened to the books on cd, but Matthew just barely got started on the first book. Nicholas had to work so he didn't get to go this time. I'm sure he'll get to it soon.

We also just put $73 of gas into the truck...ouch. Gas prices make me crazy.

Spring Break Day 1 - April 2

That last post of mine was my 1,000th! Wow!

The first day of spring break I got to spend about 2 hours out on the deck in the SUNSHINE! The weather has been mostly rainy and overcast so it was very special to be outside and read (it was Matthew's new text for his Children's Literature class). I was also surprised that it was warm enough to just sit there, but Owen said it got up to 66 degrees. I love sitting on the deck reading a book.
