A Day in the Life

Snow - Feb 25

We got pounded with snow. School was very interesting yesterday with only 10 students in my class. Since 6 were absent on Wednesday, I didn't start anything new. With 10 gone, it was just an "educationally fun" day.

Today was a bit better, but still I was missing 7, so 3 days out of the 4 were somewhat lost. We had a 2-hour delay both days. I realized that I have never taken a picture of the courtyard outside my window. Today's snow made a good excuse to do just that.

When I got home, I discovered Matthew's snowman. He spent most of the day working on it, had a bit of help from Nicholas moving the pieces from the back yard to the front, then used my favorite candies for the eyes! He did a great job, though.

Trying Something New - Feb. 20

Last night we tried a new little restaurant downtown on 14th and Tacoma...Thrill of the Grill. I had bought Owen some restaurant coupons and this was one of the places. We thought it would be more like Varsity Grill or Wingers since those were the other coupons that came with it, but it is just a tiny little hamburger shop...with excellent food! Although they closed shortly after we ordered (6pm), we enjoyed our fairly inexpensive food (my BLT was only $3.75!). If you're down in that area, make sure to stop in. This is the view right outside their door.

Topaz was laying flat on her back before I grabbed the camera.

Zoey loves the sunshine just as much.

Happy Valentine's Day - Feb 14

Saturday I came home and Nicholas had left me this beautiful bouquet of pink roses. He gifted all the ladies in his life (both grandmas, stepmom, girl-friend and me) with flowers this year AND he got stuffed animals for his little brother and stepsisters. They absolutely loved them (and I loved the flowers). :)
Then, these beautiful flowers were delivered to me at work from Owen (you can see desks in the background). I was going to bring them home because they are so pretty, but Brenda said I would enjoy them more at work...I could see them all day, so that's what I did.

Oh, and my parents gave me some pepperoni from Stewarts! What a great Valentine's Day!

Being Creative - Feb 13

It has been SO LONG since I have made cards. I made these using just two sheets of paper (the pink Bazzil background and the Basic Grey flower sheet) plus some stamps and embellishments I had around. Just in time for Valentine's Day!

New Library - Feb 12

It's been a crazy couple of weeks. I've been out of sorts, I had a paper due yesterday that took more time than it should have, and I've just felt much too busy. On the positive side, my parents just celebrated their 49th anniversary. We went to Sakura's for dinner last night. Nicholas has reacquainted with a former girlfriend, Heather. After they went shopping at the Mall, they joined us for dinner then came over to watch a couple of movies.
Today Owen and I went to the Grand Opening of the U.P. Library. It's a beautiful area and today it was packed. Everyone seemed happy and excited. I'm looking forward to going back on a day that won't be so crowded. I don't know what the story is with the duck, but U.P. also has a Duck Parade each year. I'll have to find out.
