Gettin' the 'Cuda - July 15
Papa took the boys down to Eugene to get Grandma's old car (which had been sold to her great niece, I think). It has stayed "in the family" for its whole life, since 1964. It is in need of some work, but some work has already been done. Right now (10pm) they are stuck in traffic somewhere near Salem so they're going to have a late night.
Nicholas sent these pictures from his phone.

Daily Walk - July 13
I usually go for a walk in the evening and I take along whoever wants to go. Tonight it was Matthew. Along the way we usually see two cats. One is Zorro, and this one is Freckles (I just found out his name yesterday). Freckles runs to see us and acts like he hasn't been pet in days. Today Matthew decided to plop himself in the middle of the road to pet Freckles, who has a very loud purr. Once we finish walking in the area, he follows us a ways, then goes back home.

Happy Half-Century Owen!! July 12
50 years ago today Owen was born. :) We started our celebration on Friday with a trip to Emerald Downs (Owen had never been there).
Nicholas bought him some fun "old guy" presents.
Then on Sunday we had a very nice picnic with Owen's parents, his sister Anne, and her friend Dan at Tumwater Falls park. It was a beautiful day, good food, and good company. Owen wanted a wok so he got that, some utensils, and a cookbook among other nice things.
His dad is fun to take walks with. He tells us all about different plants and history of things we see on the way.
Tonight we went to Outback to celebrate. They have the yummiest ice cream and the waitress (and I) sang Happy Birthday. I also made him a chocolate-rum-raisin cake that turned out very ugly (it didn't come out of the bundt pan very well) but tasted pretty good. I love the pecans in it...yum. Here's wishing you many more birthdays, Owen! Love you!

A Zoey Day - July 10
Zoey found a neat place to take a nap...in my school books that I brought home to look through.
My friend Margaret was talking about her daughter's cat wanting ice in her water dish. For the last couple of days, Zoey has been running to the refrigerator every time someone gets ice from the ice maker. Then, if a little chip happens to fall on the floor, she can play with it AND eat it! I guess it's ok for her to play with her food/drink!

New Deck Furniture - July 8
A few days ago we bought new deck furniture to go with our new deck. I spent most of Tuesday out there doing my homework on my laptop and it was SOOO nice! Today I dug out our old umbrella, dusted it off, and put that up so I wouldn't fry in the hot sun.
Sitting in the shade was lovely and I could see my laptop MUCH better! We even ate dinner out there. I'm glad we got cushy chairs. The plain brown chairs are loungers that we got a week or two before the set.
