Another fun site

Here is another site www.cuteoverload.com where you can find hundreds of cute, cute photos of all different kinds of animals. It's great for some laughs (and Nicholas pleading to see more pictures in an attempt to not have to go to bed yet!) Some of the text is not kid appropriate so parents be warned. :)

Eagle Cam

http://www.infotecbusinesssystems.com/wildlife/
Dan sent me this link to an Eagle Cam in British Columbia. Apparently the eggs they are sitting are are supposed to hatch in just 6 days. I saw two eggs last night. You can tell the female from the male by the ruffled "hairdo". The males head is more smooth and groomed. The female is also slightly larger and seems to have a more hooked beak. Check out the forum and the "Pictures and Screenshots" section for more photos.

A Fact You May Have Heard Before

*No piece of square dry paper can be folded more than 7 times in half!*

For those of you with kids, try this great perceptual activity. Fold a piece of paper in half and make a cut in it so that a small piece comes out. Without unfolding, have your child draw what the paper will look like when you unfold it. When that is mastered with one fold, try two folds and see how they do...this is a great workout for the brain! (You can even try it yourself for extra brain exercises!)

Boys' Spring Break Vacation

We just got back from a nice little vacation to the Hood River area. Due to my forgetfulness (leaving my medicine at home, having to stop at a pharmacy in Camas), we got to go down WA-14 and climb up Beacon Rock. That was a great unplanned adventure! We stayed at the Vagabond Lodge which was a fairly inexpensive place to stay. On Friday we took the Mt. Hood Scenic Railroad trip which the boys loved. We ventured into The Dalles where we went to a museum, a scrapbook store, and had an early dinner. On Saturday we drove part of the loop for the Blossom Festival, took an orchard tour, visited a winery and little farms, then drove past all the waterfalls on Hwy 30 on our way home. So even though the boys and I had different spring breaks, we made the most of it and I got to take off a day and a half to have fun. The photos are at Horsetail Falls and on top of Beacon Rock and if you click on the photo, it will enlarge. :)

Flowers

Don'tcha just love flowers? (that's how the kids write it) Owen sent flowers to work on my birthday (Monday). They have such beautiful colors and wow, do they smell wonderful! I decided to keep them at work for a few days to enjoy the fragrance and to remind me of Owen (not that I need flowers to be thinking about him!) I love the little hummingbird in the mix. Just perfect!

My Birthday

We celebrated my birthday at Sakura's last night. The restaurant was full of people celebrating their birthdays. The lady behind us was the same age as me...she was born at TG, I was born in Lakewood...it would've been interesting if we were both born at the same hospital! We had a great dinner and my birthday was just wonderful.

Thank Goodness for Photo Cards

This was one of my favorite pictures from Christmas and I had thought that we had lost it. It was uploaded to York but they have only been keeping my photos for 60 days (although Matthew's seem to stay online forever)so it disappeared from there. I had ordered hard copies of my photos but wanted more...thankfully, Matthew discovered his photo card that hadn't been erased yet so I was able to get these onto my computer and now I will make a CD with them to keep forever. This has been my year for learning lessons on saving things onto the computer and making a backup. I also lost my gradebook last month and now have it saved in multiple places. Pictures, however, are much more important than grades!

A Day of Basketball

It was nice to come to see the boys playing basketball together on this great mostly sunny day. They are taking care of Houdini next door and decided to take advantage of the basketball hoop just seemingly waiting for them to use. Since the neighbor's boys are all grown up, I'm sure the hoop was ready for some use. I keep telling the boys that they should play basketball once in a while because with being so tall, people are bound to ask them to play.

Today was my birthday lunch/movie with Brenda and Wendy (the birthday is a few days away but we'll be working then). We went to Ruby Tuesday for lunch then saw Inside Man. The movie was pretty good but had a strange ending. I am ready for a whole bunch of good movies to be out...I'm surprised there were not more for Spring Break time. I'm really looking forward to seeing The DaVinci Code but that doesn't come out until May 19...Mission Impossible III looks pretty adventurous, too, but that's also in May. I will just have to busy myself with Blockbuster until then!

Matthew's picture

As soon as I showed my boys my new blog, Matthew wondered where his picture is, so here he is with one of his many April Fool's jokes...as he was making his sandwich on Saturday, he came running in with "blood" on his hand saying he cut himself...good thing it was just Strawberry syrup. It also took him a few tries to get a hurt look on his face instead of his usual happy grin.

I spent the morning in Centralia shopping at the VF Outlet and the Dress Barn. I love those stores! I ended up with 3 pair of jeans, a tshirt, a little jacket, and some pjs for $70! I love a good bargain. Then I had a nice lunch with Owen, who ended up being late back to work because it took a long time to cook the Thai food. That's the first time I've had Thai...it was pretty good but I liked his meal better than mine. :)

My First Blog

A scrapbooking friend has been sharing her blog and it's such a wonderful record of her and her life, I thought I'd give it a try. I'm not sure how often I'll be able to keep up with the writing, but that's life.

I'm on Spring Break this week and the boys are in school. I have a million things I want to get done and this wasn't one of them! Yesterday I was trying to fix my bookshelf by getting a peg to hold it up...while looking for the peg, I realized that my 4 "junk drawers" in the laundry room hadn't been organized and cleaned out in years so that became my project. It involved a trip to Big Lots (which didn't have what I needed) and to Fred Meyer (bingo!) to find storage containers for my drawers. Now I am the proud owner of 4 very organized junk drawers. (Don't ask about the bookshelf, it's still not fixed!...although I did find the pegs.)

I debated whether or not to go to a movie since today is "free popcorn day" at Regal. Organizing my scrapbook stuff won out, but I haven't done that yet, either. Being random abstract can be frustrating at times! I have about half an hour before Nicholas gets home, then another half hour and Matthew will be home. So once I'm finished with this, maybe I will actually get to my scrapbooking supplies or even to the bookshelf...

So I will save more for another day...this is kind of fun!
