Ouch - Aug. 30
Nicholas showed me a bite on his knee last night that was about the size of a dime. Today, when he came back from Papa's limping, he said he didn't know if he could work tomorrow because his knee was so swollen. I took him up to the doc-in-the-box and they said it's cellulitis which can be caused by an injury, bite, sting, etc. If untreated, it just swells and swells. He got some antibiotics and is supposed to elevate it and keep moist heat on it 4 times a day. Hopefully the swelling will go down quickly.

Papa's Car Show - Aug 28
Last Saturday, Mama and Papa had a barbecue for our visitors from Norway, Leidulf and Bjorg. Dad's cousin Diane and her husband Lindy came as well as Lila, Jeanine, and Jennifer. Mark, Kelly, and the kids were there, too. Leidulf's granddaughter Jenny (left) looks so much like Catie (right)...it was amazing. Here they are, then some photos of all the neat cars.Red cars...
Blue cars...
Can you tell that my dad likes convertibles? Those three on the right are all his.
Here we are! Dogs included.

Dinosaurs - Aug. 18
One of my favorite activities in Colorado was visiting Dinosaur Ridge.
Volunteers use charcoal and water to darken the area where the footprints are so they are this visible.
This area used to be flat, shallow water.

Colorado - Aug. 9 (8/9/10)
We recently returned from a week in Colorado. During our trip, we saw many family members, friends, and beautiful sights. I think my favorite place was Dinosaur Ridge where we got to feel dinosaur bones imbedded in rock, see actual footprint fossils, and see dinosaur bulges.
We had a family reunion to go to, which was the main reason we made Colorado our vacation spot this year. As you saw with my last post, there were quite a few people there. My grandpa was one of 12 children born in Norway. There are 36+ cousins (not sure of the total number), most living in Norway. I guess only 4 of the original siblings came to America. Now that we have some photos, it will be fun to sit down and figure out an extended family tree.
We saw Red Rocks Ampitheater (very impressive!), travelled down to Colorado Springs to see the Garden of the Gods and drive up Pike's Peak and see Beth (my former neighbor...it was great to see her!) On the way back to the Denver area, we stopped by to see my high school friend, Karen. That day we broiled in the sun, froze on top of Pike's Peak, went through fog, a thunderstorm, and torrential rain on the way back to our hotel. Quite a day!
We visited my 97 year old grandpa (on my mom's side), Owen's aunt and cousins, saw a movie (Dinner for Schmucks), watched cute little bunnies at our hotel, caught a grasshopper, saw elk and mountain goats, a marmot and chipmunks, visited the Wild Animal Sanctuary, and ate at my new favorite restaurant, Chipotle Mexican Grill. I was so concerned that I wouldn't be able to eat there, we had to go right before flying back home. Then I discovered today that there are a few Chipotle's around, the closest in Federal Way. I may have to go there soon! Yum!
I am finishing up my last two BIG assignments for my summer classes and then, hopefully, I can post more often...until my fall classes start at least. :)
