Heathman - Nov. 12
I got a neat deal on Living Social for the Heathman Lodge in Vancouver, WA. We went this weekend and when I scheduled, I didn't realize that I also had Monday off. Woo Hoo for a 4-day weekend!
After an early morning appointment, we stopped in Centralia for a bit of shopping on the way to Vancouver. Once there, we arrived to rose petals on the floor and bed, a bottle of wine (that we brought home because neither of us likes wine), and some Seattle Chocolates. I had forgotten about that part of the package. I was happy with the Lodge. One night I took my book to the sitting area above the bar where a guy was playing piano. It was nice to just sit and relax with nice music playing.
We spent some time at Powell's books in Portland, tried Peet's Coffee, found a liquor store (tax here is ridiculous!), then found our way to McMennamin's Kennedy School to watch the movie "The Odd Life of Timothy Green". I love how McMennamin's refigures old properties. Kennedy school has a huge movie theater, restaurant, soaking pool, bar and brewery, as well as rooms that you can stay in. Owen had taken me to the Olympic Club in Centralia and I thought it was fun sitting on couches and eating dinner in the theater. Since this was our 88th Monthaversary, it was only fitting to spend some time in a similar theater.
On the way home we stopped for a nice visit with Owen's parents, then had dinner and game night at my parents.
This was a fun, fun weekend!

It sounds like a wonderful trip!Love the ambiance of those rose petals. I don't like wine either. Of course, I'm wondering what you're reading. :)
